Welcome to the official website of the Decatur (GA) Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.

 

WE ARE DECATUR—and for nearly 45 years, we’ve stood at the intersection of excellence, brotherhood, and community service. As we prepare to celebrate our 45th anniversary in April 2026, our chapter is embracing a clear, actionable strategy: grow our active membership, increase our reach, and deepen our community impact.

 

That vision is already taking shape.

 

Our Guide Right program is leading the charge. The Decatur Kappa League was awarded the J. Crosby Award for Outstanding Program of the Year by the Southeastern Province—a testament to the life-changing mentorship and leadership development we provide to young men in DeKalb County. This success is fueled by Brother Derrick Westry, who also received the Bert V. Watkins Award for Outstanding Alumni/Kappa League Director, the Province’s highest honor for Guide Right leadership. And this year, we’re thinking bigger: our Kappa League programming is going international. Brothers and families—get your passports ready.

 

We’re just as committed to our community as we are to our youth. Under the direction of Social Action Chairman Warren Green, we are the top-contributing organization in Super District 7’s Community Clean-Up Initiative, led by Commissioner Dr. LaDena Bolton and supported by the leadership of DeKalb County CEO Lorraine Cochran-Johnson. Our impact is visible, measurable, and aligned with the needs of the communities we serve.

 

On the cultural front, the Original Cotton Club, chaired by Brother Ralph Holmes, continues to redefine what signature events look like. This Roaring 20s-themed fundraiser supports both scholarships and our Guide Right programming—and has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars since its inception in 2015. Last year’s Diamonds in the Sky delivered a night to remember—complete with helicopter rides over Atlanta. This year, we shift into high gear with Chasing Diamonds at the Porsche Experience Center, where guests will take the wheel and experience the thrill of achievement firsthand.

 

Our chapter doesn’t simply plan—we strategize. We translate vision into impact, brotherhood into leadership, and service into legacy. Achievement is our cause. Community is our canvas. Growth is our goal. WE ARE DECATUR.
